Mahudi is a famous for Jinalaya Jain temple of Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir. Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir Jain Temple or Mahudi Jain Tirth is located at Mahudi Village,near Sabarmati river of Gandhinagar in Gujrat India.The temple was built in 2000 years ago and renovate it 1917 by Shrimad Buddhisagarji Maharaj Saheb.The temple is dedicated to Lord Ghantakarna Mahavir Swami among the 52 Virs of one and Mulnayak Bhagawana Padmaprabhu.As it is believed that this idol is very powerful and miraculous thoughts of devotees from all over India come here to attain blessing.Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir idol was installed in the temple by the ‘Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Buddhisagar Suriswarji Maharaj Saheb’ in the 1974 of the Vikram era. The idol of Shri Ghantakarna Mahvir is very miraculous. Thousands of pilgrims with faith and devotion, come here to fulfill their desires. Every year, on the fourteenth day of the dark half of the month of Aso, the ceremony of charitable offering is celebrated in the Jain way in the temple of Shri Ghantakarna Mahavir. The annual function is also celebrated.
Tradition is to prepare as well as consume 'prasad' of 'sukhdi; within the temple complex of Ghantakarna Mahavir. This is a simple yet absolutely adorable sweet preparation and has to be completely consumed when on the premises. If you have offered more than you can consume, you have to distribute it to the others, and the poor who are visiting. But, you cannot take this 'prasad' for someone at home, and it is said that anyone trying to take the 'sukhadi' out of the premises is never successful. Another ancient temple at Mahudi is of Katyarkji, the god of the community of Khadayata Vaniks. The old temple was at the edge of the river, but now it has been shifted in a larger temple nearby. The image of the God has also been brought over in it. Two beautifully sculpted images also are brought over. The sculpture of a mother with a child making mischief on her shoulders is remarkable.
