Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is located Connaught Place, Next to Grand Post Office New Delhi.The Gurudwara was built in 1783 and built by Sardar Bhagel Singh.It has developed into a center of pilgrimage for thousands of people everyday. People from various religions, castes and places visit this holy place .Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is an important historical and religious place in India. Dedicated to the eighth Sikh Guru, Sri Harkishen Sahib, it is situated near Connaught Place Market in New Delhi. Its main hall is kept simple, except for the open central shrine, covered by a small golden dome sporting a sculpted bronze cupola. Devotional music is relayed throughout the complex continuously. There is a higher secondary school, Baba Baghel Singh Museum, a library and a hospital in the Gurdwara complex. Holy water of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, known as 'Amrit, is said to have miraculous powers of curing the sikh. 

Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, the 8th guru of the Sikhs, is believed to have stayed at this place in the year 1664. It is further said that at that time, people were suffering from an epidemic and they were given help by the guru. After the guru died, Raja Jai Singh built a tank in his memory. Water from this tank is believed to have medicinal properties and most of the devotees take back this water from the gurudwara.

History of  Gurdwara Bangla Sahib 

Sri Guru Hari Krishan Sahib, the boy prophet, became the eighth Guru of the Sikhs on October 6, 1661 A.D. During the short period of his pontificate He guided the Sikh community with great tact and wisdom in the face of threatening challenges. He sent missionaries to the farthest outposts of the country and inspired the seekers who came to Him with eternal truth and the highest mystical and spiritual experiences. His father Guru Hari Rai had disowned his elder brother, Ram Rai because he went out of the way to please the Mughal Emperor, more so by showing magical miracles to entertain him.
When Guru Har Krishan Sahib came to Delhi , he was entertained as a royal guest by Raja Jai Singh in his Haveli (Palace), the present site of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. This palace was built on the model of existing palace of Raja Jai Singh in Jaipur. Raja Jai Singh's Chief Rani looked after Mata Sulakhani, the mother of the Guru Sahib, and was greatly impressed by the spiritual powers of the child-prophet.
Avoiding invitations and meetings with Emperor Aurangzeb he refused to show any occult miracles of the type Ram Rai had shown in the Mughal Court and had got many rewards. During this period Small pox and cholera had broken in Delhi and Guru Harkrishan Sahib moved among the poorest Hindu and Muslim localities helping the suffering and the sick. Hindus and Muslims of Delhi were deeply moved by his compassion and human concern for all those who suffered from poverty and diseases. Every day Guru Harkrishan Sahib distributed sanctified water to the sick and ailing people which had a miraculous healing effect on their mind, body and soul. To this day water sanctified by the Word of God, sung all day in this temple, is distributed to those seeking faith healing. Many seriously ill persons are reported to have been healed. Raja Jai Singh dedicated his palace to his sacred memory and since his death it has been the place of worship of the Sikhs and is known as Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

Shri Shikharji is the holiest of all Jain teerths.Shantinath Temple is a prominent structure in the Eastern Group of Khajuraho Temples. Sonagiri Jain Temple is located at Sonagiri Hill Datia district of Madhya Pradesh.The temple was built by Digambar Jain and built in 9th and 10th century.The temple is dedicated to Jain 8th Tirthankar Bhagavan Chandraprabhu.Sonagiri Jain temples where Sonagiri literally means ‘golden peak’ are located at Sonagiri 60 kms near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.All 77 temples are located in the hills so do their views always mesmerize devotees coming to this place as pilgrims. It maintains an identity of being a sacred location in a state where large number of Jain devotees and ascetic Saints flock every day.

One can see as many as seventy seven beautiful Jain temples, all in the color white which are located around Sonagiri and twenty six to thirty one temples located in the village. The temple no. fifty seven is located on the hill and is considered to be the main temple. This temple has a very attractive artistic spire. The main deity in this temple is Lord Chandraprabhu, who was believed to be eleven feet in height. There are two other beautiful idols which belong to Lord Sheetal Nath & Parsvnath which have also been installed in this place. One can see a column of dignity, referred to as Manstambh which is 43 feet in height along with an attractive model of Samavsharan. The entire summit of this great majestic mount Shatrunjaya is crowned with about 900 temples, each rivaling the other for beauty and magnificence, presenting an awe-inspiring spectacle to devotees and visitors. The peak is a 3 ½ km climb of over 3500 steps from the town. It consists of a cluster of over 800 temples which is divided into tuks. Throughout the cluster you can see detailed carvings, beautiful idols and images, jeweled statues and intricate toranas. Sunrise behind the temples is a great sight. One can enjoy views from the summit of the hills and the river Shetrunjaya. On a clear day, the Gulf of Cambay seacoast can be seen.
Then there is the unique place known as Laghu Sammed Shikhar covering the area of 132 acres of two hills. There are 77 beautiful Jain temples with sky high spires, Temple No. 57 is main among them. Acharya Shubh Chandra & Bhartrihari lived and worked here for spiritual achievements. They completed here some texts also.


History of Sonagiri Jain Temples

There is too much historic value of Sonagiri due to presence of several ancient Jain temples here. Shri Digambar Jain Siddha Kshetra is major temple alongside other temples that make this place famous Jain pilgrimage center. It maintains a religious value from 9th and 10th centuries due to presence of several such temples. It gained popularity as a sacred place to welcome large number of devotees and ascetic saints to practice self-discipline and so do they worship Gods as per Jain tradition. 

 Architecture of Sonagiri Jain Temples

The foremost temple has an idol of Chandraprabhu in meditation, 11 feet in height. There are 77 striking Jain Temples in the hills and 26 temples in villages. Temple no. 57 on the hill is actually the main temple. It consists of a captivating spire. Two other idols of Lord Sheetalnath and Parsvanath are installed beside the chieftain. There is a column of dignity (Maanstambh), 43 feet in height, also a model of Samavsharan. The samavsharan of Lord Chandraprabhu came here 17 times. Nang, Anang, Chintagati, Poorchand, Ashoksen, Shridatta and many such saints achieved salvation from here. 

This is a remarkable place known as Laghu Sammed Shikar covering the area of 132 acres, spanning two hills. A pillar of white stone outside the temple is bound to catch one's eye, with its intrinsic carvings; there are 'chatris' (cenotaphs) on three sides of the pillar showcasing images of all Jain Tirthankaras. Temple no.60- Pisan Hari ka Mandir was built by a poor woman grinding grains with a millstone. Temple no.59 or the 'Gumbajdwar' has minars on all sides. The annual festival is held from Falgun Shukla 14th to Chaitra Krishna 5th.

This temple is one of the most prominent temples of Delhi.The temple complex of Sree Uttara Swami Malai, reverentially named as “Malai Mandir” a harmoniously blended Tamil World “Malai” with the Hindi word “Mandir” by the people of Delhi, with Sree Swaminatha Swami as the Presiding Deity, has been attracting an increasing number of people of all classes of people from India and abroad year after year and has become an important landmark of Delhi. One of the slogans of Lord Swaminath is inscribed on a sign board outside the main temple complex in tamil which means “Whose afraid I'm there.” The malai temple is built using granite stone. The temple complex is built in accordance with the Chola style. The architecture of the temple reflects the designs of South India. All the main idols of the temple are made of black granite stone. Just after entering into the temple, on the left side one can find the idols of Lord Karpaga Vigner, Goddess Meenakshi, and Shri Sudreshwar who were elder brother, mother and father of Lord Swaminath. All the walls and roof of the temple are very beautifully decorated with wonderful art work. The idol of Meenakshi devi is very beautiful and wonderful. There is a temple of Navgraha on the right side of the temple of parents of Lord Swaminath. The Navgraha temple has the very beautiful idols of all the nine hindu graha and Lord Shani.
There is also a hall after a climbing a few staircase in the temple. The hall is magnificent and is named as Adi Swami hall. There is also an idol of Nag Devta on the right side of left staircase.The front staircase leads to the temple of Lord Swaminath, which is also the main temple of the complex. The walls of the temple are decorated with the paintings of various deities. The pillars of the temple have beautiful and wonderful designs of the south India. There are separate queues for males(left) and females(right) for the worship which is applicable everywhere in the temple.There is also a place on the right side where cultural programmes are organised from time to time.

History of  Uttara Swami Malai Temple

“Malai” word of Tamil language carries the meaning of “Hill”. Lord Swaminatha who is also known as Lord Murgan is the main deity of this temple. On the way to Palam, this temple is located. This temple is managed by south Indian population residing in the area. Various persons from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam language speaking equally worship in this temple. The foundation of this temple was laid on 08 Sep 1965 the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Sri M. Bhaktavatsalam. On this occasion the then Prime Minister of India Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was also present who presided over the ceremony. During 1973, Mahakumbhabhishekam was performed at this temple. During July 1995 another temple named Navgraha Temple was constructed near this temple. Adi Sankara hall of this temple was constructed and officially inaugurated during Nov 1997. Various religious functions were performed to expand the level of this temple till last 4 years. This temple is located at easy connectivity from all parts of the Delhi city. Lord Swaminatha has mounted on peacock. Various peacocks are habited around the temple area. This shows the devotion of even animals to Lord Swaminatha.

Architecture of Uttara Swami Malai Temple

Main seat of Lord Swaminatha is housed in the Garbhalaya of this temple. In general saying, this temple is called Sree Swaminatha Swami Temple. On the entrance of this temple a sign is posted and written in Tamil language. Motto of the temple is written on the board as no need to fear when lord is there. In Tamil the same is as “Yaamirukka Bayamain”. Carvings of this temple are fabulous and entire construction has been done in traditional Dravidian style of architecture. Gopuram of this temple is not too high but a mixed constructional style is clearly visible on exteriors and interiors of the temple. Walls have been supported with beautifully carved pillars. Granite has been used to construct this temple. The outlook of the temple is just like the construction done in the dynasty of Chola Kings. Architecture style of Gopuram is like Meenakshi Temple of Madurai.

Kilkari Bhairav Temple is located at Near Old Fort Delhi.The temple was built by Pandavas in Mahabharata times.The temple was dedicated to Lord Bhairava or Lord Shiva. Instead of milk, liquor is offered to the deity of this temple.Although some people believe that it was established by Bheem, one of the five Pandavas of Mahabharatha epic, neither the idol nor the temple seems to be very old.
The idol of Bhairav is huge but does not have the entire human body; only the head with two big blue eyes along with a trident is found in the form of idol. Apart from Bhairav, there are other deities in the temple such as Ganeshji and all. The complete name of temple also suggests that ,its called "Pandav kaleen Sri Kilkari Bhairav Temple" . There are two temples dedicated to Bhairav ji,offering made to the residing deity is alchoal in Kilkari bhairav temple and milk in doodhiya bhairav temple. The unique concrete cow built here, which is under serve as water taps is interesting.

Photography is strictly prohibited in this temple. Well, it is written in various places inside the temple that offering liquor is also prohibited in the temple - I am not sure whom do the temple authorities try to make fool.

History of Kilkari Bhairav Temple

The history of the temple dates to ancient times when Vaishno Devi entered a cave leaving a warrior monkey to guard the entrance. Bhairav then a demon and entered the cave forcefully. This angered Vaishno Devi and she took the Chandi avatar and killed Bhairav by beheading him. The Vaishno Puran mentions that even after being beheaded Bhairav kept pleading to Vaishno Devi for mercy and she forgave him. She also blessed him saying that he will be worshipped by the coming generations. This is the reason why the idol of Lord Bhairav is till the neck.

Many believe that the temple is the site where Bheem (the second of Pandav siblings) prayed and attained his powers. The complete name of the temple is ‘Pandav Kaleen Sri Kilkari Bhairav Mandir’. The temple is known throughout for being alcohol friendly and devotees carry alcohol to serve it to Lord Bhairav.
